Maurício Pinto is from Brusque and returned to Brazil to treat an ankle injury at Fibra Fisio
Two months ago, in a game for the Lithuanian Football Championship (A Lyga), FK Banga defender Maurício Pinto, 25, suffered a sprain in his right ankle. In the following days he even started some exercises to correct the problem, but without much success. He waited for the season to end and came to Brazil to carry out his sports rehabilitation at Fibra Fisio, considered the largest physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation center in the country.
The athlete is from Brusque and has been working for just over six months at Futbolo Klubas Banga. With passages in teams such as Brusque Futebol Clube, Metropolitano and Operário (MS), Maurício accepted the challenge of playing for the European team in this year of 2021.
In early December he returned to Brusque with a focus on his rehabilitation. The athlete has one month to perform the best treatments here, to return to Lithuania in January. He was impressed with the structure of Fibra Fisio and the proposed treatments. “I had never witnessed such a large and complete structure as here at Fibra Fisio, with so much equipment and treatments. Even being in a European country, there wasn't such a structure there”, reveals the player, who takes advantage of the moment to see Brusque's family and friends.
“Maurício came to treat an injury we call late, that is, as he got injured two months ago and there was no physical therapy structure there, he waited for the end of the season to undergo the treatment here in Brazil. Today, our country is a reference in physiotherapy in the world”, explains Dr. Daine Paza, physiotherapist and partner at Fibra Fisio.
As he needs a quick recovery, with training scheduled in January, the rehabilitation is more intensive for recovery and better results. “Since it is a late injury, which was not treated, we started rehabilitation from scratch. As he is an athlete, I can demand a lot more from him, since there is no edema,” he emphasizes.
Maurício has performed two sessions each day of treatment. His sports rehabilitation emphasizes proprioception, balance and strength, so that he can strengthen his ankle to resume training without pain and reduce the risk of repeating this type of sprain. “In addition to the functional rehabilitation, we do all the ultrasound and laser part to increase the ankle ligament regeneration process”, adds Dr. Daiane.
About the challenges of working at FK Banga, Maurício says that he managed to adapt during this period. “It's a nice country to live in and I'm improving the English they also understand, although the predominant languages are Lithuanian and Russian. There are many Brazilians who live there, many players and for me it is a great opportunity. When I arrived, the championship had already started, but I managed to participate in many games and ended up standing out”, says the player.
