Malcolm Cacutalua is leaving 1. FC Magdeburg with immediate effect. The 29-year-old central defender is moving to Lithuanian champions FK Panevėžys. The transfer window is currently still open in Lithuania. He has played five 2. Bundesliga games for the FCM since summer 2022.
The native of Troisdorf (North Rhine-Westphalia) wore the jersey of 1. FC Köln and Bayer Leverkusen as a youth player. He also took his first steps in men's football in Leverkusen in 2013.
This was followed by loans to SpVgg Greuter Fürth and VfL Bochum. The 1.88 meter tall defender played for Bochum from 2014 to 2016. After a season at Arminia Bielefeld (12 second division games, 1 goal), he moved to league rivals FC Erzgebirge Aue in 2017.
In his career so far, Malcolm Cacutalua has played a total of 120 second division games (6 goals, 2 assists) and 30 regional league games (1 goal, 1 assist).
The defender was used 13 times (1 goal) for the German U-20 national team and once for the U-21 national team.
Otmar Schork, Sports Director of 1. FC Magdeburg:
“Unfortunately, Malcolm didn’t get into the competitive situation with us as he had hoped. He should get this playing experience at his new club FK Panevėžys and we wish him all the best for the future.”
