Taking into account the increase in solidarity payment funds allocated by UEFA, the LFF's budget for this year has risen to EUR 15 135 540. About 15% of the budget is allocated to the implementation of various infrastructure projects. A similar amount helps to implement various elite football development projects, including LFF Football Academy events and the payment of solidarity payments.
This year's camps and starts for Latvian men's, youth, women's, girls', premises and beach soccer teams also have a budget of about 15%, while almost 9% is intended for the organization of games and tournaments in Latvia.
Approximately 7% of the budget goes to women's football and Grassroots football activities, including various development projects such as "FIFA Football For Schools" and "FootFamFest", while about 6% of the budget consists of the organization of the work of referees of Latvian football competitions and the first steps in the implementation of the VAR system in the virslīgā championship.
In the new cycle of the UEFA solidarity system, which is UEFA's support instrument for the development of clubs' youth systems, the funds allocated to clubs from each national federation have risen to EUR 1 350 000 per year. By creating a special mechanism linked to the athletic level of clubs and compliance with the criteria set by the LFF for the youth system, all these funds go to the clubs and are invested in the development of their youth segment.
As the available funding has increased, the LFF, following consultations by the task force, has reworked its distribution mechanism and expanded the range of clubs included in the system. In addition to academies, funding is also due to 1st level clubs, moreover, the guaranteed part of the funding goes not only to the clubs of the Latvian Highest league, but also to the representatives of the 1st league. The variable part depends on the fulfilment of the criteria of the youth system of the respective club or the results of the accreditation of clubs.
It should be highlighted that a separate part of the total funding is reserved for the support of clubs that do not have representation in the virslīgā or 1. līgā, but have fulfilled the relevant criteria of the youth system.
LFF's next board meeting is scheduled for March 6.
