SDB: Your first stadium project was the revamp of Stamford Bridge, now your company designed the expansion of Anfield. In these 25+ years how much do you think Premier League stadium expectations changed?

There has been a massive change in the past 25 years. The fan expectation has grown enormously, not only in the quality of the view, atmosphere and the standard of play they expect. Gone are the days of freezing cold exposed concourses with a minimal selection of food and drinks, now the general fan expects a much better range of facilities and experience.

Nors klausimas apie EPL, bet manau pritaikomas universaliai visam pasauliui(ar bent jau visoms "išsivysčiusioms" šalims tai tikrai), tik Lietuvos institucijose nėra norinčių to pripažinti...

As asmeniskai viename (nesakysiu kokiame) stadione Klaipedoje ir paprasto stogo (tiesiog, kad po juo palystum), jau nekalpu apie tokias technologijas. Kaip bebutu, jei zaidejams gal ir nera taip blogai begiot po lietu, bet slapiems ir susalusiems ziurovams - neabejoju.

New stadium: Korea going football-specific

All it took was building a football-dedicated stadium with a fraction of seating compared to the giant built for the 2002 World Cup. And in a year Daegu FC's attendance has nearly tripled!

Financed by the municipality, the stadium was scaled down from nearly 20,000 to 12,000 in order to better suit actual demand for Daegu FC games. Eventually expansion to 15,000 is possible, should ticket demand grow. And already in the first season DFC attendance went up from 3,500 to over 10,700 per games, making the stadium a perfect fit.

In this respect it proved a good choice to opt for a compact stadium with robust seating bowl. Fans are just 7 meters away from the field and front row is elevated, while the stands are steep, bringing fans closer to the action than nearly all South Korean stadia. The south end also has a safe standing area with position for a capo coordinating chants. Though placed high above spectators, the roof helps amplify the noise generated.

Batumi Stadium is Georgia's most modern and impressive football venue. With 20,000 seats it's the country's third largest stadium, the single largest outside capital, Tbilisi. Its construction began on Jan 21, 2018 and took roughly 27 months. The price tag stands at 99.5 million lari ($36m / €32m ).

We should note that the stadium was initially contracted to be delivered in under 3 years, in October of this year. However, work was handled very well and the deadline was shifted to March. While physically it was almost complete at that time indeed, the global pandemic meant no mass event would be held anyway, giving some extra time buffer.

Bucharest: Stadionul Steaua formally completed

Initially, the stadium was supposed to be star-shaped, but due to cost-cutting, the original design was significantly simplified. The total value of the investment in 2018 was to be RON 301 million (64.5 million €). After re-approving the technical and economic indicators in October 2019, the total cost of building the stadium went up to RON 448 million (€ 94.7 million). Changes in the design increased the capacity of the facility from 30,500 to 31,254 viewers. They also managed to increase the number of VIP seats, from 1,420 seats provided in the original solution to 2,678 seats.

The new stadium will be managed by the Ministry of National Defense. Steaua Stadionul was built in less than 2 years. The investment was financed entirely from public funds. The Ministry of Public Works, Development and Administration has commissioned the construction of the facility by a consortium of three Romanian companies (Terragaz Construct, Concelex, MC General Construct).

Because Georgia was for years plagued with poor football infrastructure, meeting the highest UEFA standards became a source of pride. The goal was not just to create proper development conditions for Dinamo, but also to lure the national team to the coastal city. Thus the high-end lighting, sound system and hybrid field. The auditorium is divided almost perfectly into two halves. Lower tier for 10,040 and upper for 9,995. The architects also assured that up to 5,000 additional seats could be fitted with limited effort.

The venue has no running track, its stands are steep and uniquely shaped. Indeed, all of its architecture is one of a kind, created by the celebrated Kisho Kurokawa. Toyota Stadium became one of Japan’s three stadia to have a retractable roof, however its system is one of a kind. The membrane travels on 13 trusses along the field, folding atop the north stand when not in use.

While the system is innovative, it proved extremely burdensome in day-to-day operations. Since April 1, 2015 it remains immobile, which means it hasn’t been closed even once in over 6 years. By 2019 the stadium’s operator announced the roof would not be used ever again.

Each operation of opening and closing apparently costs ¥1 million ($9,100), while keeping the structure able to move at any moment means another ¥60 million annually ($550,000). Meanwhile, even when it was used, the roof’s ability to move was utilised only some 4 times each year.

Aš specialiai pasidomėjau: mes vidutiniškai iš biudžeto Lietuvos garsinimui išleidžiame apie porą šimtų milijonų eurų. Turiu omenyje skrajutes, reklaminius bukletus, kuriuose rodome, kokia graži yra Lietuva, rodome mūsų gamtą, kad tik ką nors prisiviliotume, ieškome kažkokių „G" taškų. O sportui iš biudžeto per metus yra išleidžiama apie 70 mln. eurų. Taigi, lyginant su tuo, kas faktiškai išleidžiama tuščiai ir kas išleidžiama grynai sportui, - didžiulis skirtumas. O juk, kai ant pakylos stovi sportininkas, kyla valstybės vėliava, skamba valstybės himnas, o laimėtojo akyse tvenkiasi ašaros - tai yra geriausia reklama šaliai.

Aš pasižiūrėjau statistinius duomenis, kiek mes turėjome sporto bazių, stadionų. Galiu pasakyti, kad nuo 1992 m. mes iš esmės ne kūrėm, bet griovėm. Tai yra tas kelias, kuris vedė ir prie 2016 m., ir prie šitų metų prastų olimpinių rezultatų. Net nesinori kalbėti apie tai, kokia yra šiandieninė bazė, kokie mūsų yra stadionai. Sporto bazės sovietiniais laikais buvo įkurtos geriausiose vietose, todėl jos pirmiausia buvo privatizuotos. Kas prisimena, buvo uždaras baseinas prie Vilniaus sporto rūmų, kur dabar stovi daugiabutis. Baseinas nugriautas, nes buvo gardus kąsnelis. Stadionų vietoje mes statome gyvenamuosius namus. Naikinam irklavimo bazę Trakuose, jau sunaikinom visą sportinę aviaciją. Tai, kas buvo 1992-aisiais, buvo sovietinių laikų palikimas, bet ta sporto sistema dar veikė.

Kol Lietuvoje nebent Vilniaus savivaldybė kepa iki-dvylikamečiams tinkamus mokyklų stadionukus iš vieno projekto, Serbai priėjo prie 8,000 vietų, kitaip sakant IV kategorijai paruoštų ar paruošiamų, stadionų statymo įvairiose šalies vietose iš vieno projekto. Kainos kiekvieno 8 tūkstantinių yra numatytos €20-30 milijonų range.


Rumunijoje, Vengrijoje irgi kažkokios programos matyt yra, nes labai jau kyla/kilo būtent tokio žiūrovų lygio nauji stadionai senųjų vietoje...
